Theorist/Contributor to Art Education Assignment due: 6.29.12 100pt/10% Research your contributor to art education (to be distributed in class). Be prepared to share brief biographical information (including significant dates), how they contributed to art education, why this is significant, and how it continues to influence art educational practices. This information will be presented to the class in an 8-10 minute presentation using 4-6 slides (PowerPoint or Keynote) and a class handout that is posted to the wiki. The slides should use bullet points or images to outline main ideas. The presentation should elaborate on the main ideas and images that appear in the slide show. The handout needs have all of the important information about the theorist/contributor in a clear and organized format.
Pedagogy Paper and Presentation due: 7.6.12 200pts/20% Prepare a 3-page APA format paper and a 15-20 minute interactive and informative presentation about a model of art pedagogy (to be distributed in class). The presentation and project are each worth 100 points. The paper should address important facts about the model and include specific information on how the model impacts current instructional practices in the art classroom. The presentation should demonstrate possible classroom application and explain key features. Additional guidelines will be provided in class.
Community Art Educator/Advocate Interview due: 7.13.12 100pts/10% Conduct an interview with a community arts advocate and/or educator not employed with a school system. This could be a museum educator, a leader of a local arts organization, or an art educator employed outside of the school environment. See interview rubric and guidelines provided in class for additional information.
Action Plan due: 7.13.12 100pts/20% Work with other professionals (arts professionals, administrators, and/or teachers) to develop an action plan to address an area of need that supports arts in your school or instructional program. MAArtEd students will complete two action plans, one concerning Professional Development and one concerning Advocacy. See action plan rubric, template and guidelines proved in class for additional information.
